The 2017 "Woodley's Wings and Wheels" Open House & STEM Expo Event will be the start of what is anticipated to become a signature annual event for Compton airport, the City of Compton, & the surrounding communities in Los Angeles County. It will be a FREE day of limited plane rides, fly-overs, static aircraft displays, antique and futuristic car displays, activities for kids and seniors, entertainment, and more! Gates will open to the public at 10AM and will close at 4PM.
On March 11, 2017 at the Compton Woodley Airport, an event will take place with the primary focus of entertaining attendees with performances and marvels of engineering from the aviation and automotive industries. This will be a platform to inspire future engineers and technologists with some of the transportation industry's newest innovations. Planes of the past, present, and future will be on deck, and awesome cars from eras old and new will grace the grounds. The event aims to become an annual engaging resource for perspective new creators and innovators to interact with and be exposed to things STEM (that's available to them right in their own backyard!) The day will offer the general public access to a few of the benefits that the airport might not ordinarily have the opportunities to present otherwise.
This event is being brought to the public by the United Team of Professionals in Aviation (UTOPIA) and is comprised of the stakeholders at Compton Airport (commonly referred to as the airport users group) and supported by The City of Compton, American Airports, and The County of Los Angeles.
Major invited participants: Northrop Grumman, Raytheon, NASA, Jet Propulsion Laboratories, & Boeing Corporation, and all branches of the US military.
A complete event schedule of activities is currently being developed so STAY TUNED!
